Michael P. Ryan, Esquire
Michael P. Ryan, Esquire graduated from Eastern University in 2009 with a B.A. in Political Science. He received his J.D. in 2014 from Widener University Delaware Law School where he graduated magna cum laude, ranked in the top four percent of his class. Mr. Ryan was a member of the Widener Law Review and served on the Editorial Board of the Law Review as an Articles Editor. During law school, Mr. Ryan served as a judicial extern for former Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Myron T. Steele.
After law school, Mr. Ryan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Matthew D. Carrafiello, Administrative Judge of the Philadelphia Orphans’ Court, handling matters relating to wills, trusts, estates, guardianships, minors, and fiduciaries generally.
Mr. Ryan joined Ryan, Brown, Berger & Gibbons in 2016. Since joining the firm, he has successfully litigated jury trials and compulsory, contractual and private arbitrations in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He also secured a favorable decision from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for a property and casualty auto insurance carrier, which upheld the validity and enforceability of an unlisted resident driver exclusion against an appeal seeking to invalidate the exclusionary clause as violative of the provisions of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law and public policy.
Mr. Ryan concentrates his practice in various areas of insurance defense litigation. He has extensive experience in matters involving auto liability, premises liability, commercial motor vehicle claims, first and third-party benefits, bad faith, uninsured and underinsured motorist benefits, property claims, insurance coverage, catastrophic loss, wrongful death, and hazing incidents. He serves as a Certified Arbitrator in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Compulsory Arbitration Program and is a member of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel.
